Leslie Lake Searle

Soprano Leslie Lake Searle, born in Newfoundland, has a great love for many styles of music. She grew up singing along to recordings of Jeannette Macdonald and Nelson Eddy. A graduate of Dalhousie University (Music Education) and The Banff School of Fine Arts (Musical Theatre), she has vast experience on radio, stage, television and film and in commercials. Leslie has performed many styles of music from Lieder, oratorio, opera to folk, musical theatre and dinner theatre. She has performed as soloist with The Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra (The Messiah) and with Symphony Nova Scotia (Dido and Aeneas).

Leslie grew up on CBC Television, co-hosting a children’s show and singing on a multitude of regional and national shows, appearing with Tommy Hunter and with the Irish group, Ryan’s Fancy and as a regular on the show "Ceilidh" with Winnie Chafe and Buddy MacMaster. She has worked with such greats as the late Maestro Dr. Georg Tinter, director Norman Campbell (composer of " Anne of Green Gables") and arranger Howard Cable.

A singer and choreographer and voice adjudicator, she has been a music educator in the schools in Nova Scotia and presently teaches voice privately in her Truro studio. Many of Leslie’s students have gone on to achieve leading roles in Neptune Theatre Productions such as "Les Miz", "Narnia", and "Peter Pan" as well as receiving provincial and national recognition in competitions and in performance.

Leslie is Creator and Director of her successful Three to Four Day Musical Theatre Camps For Young Children and is a member of the "Maritime Association Of Teachers Of Singing." She has sung the roles of Barbarina, Zerlina and Belinda, and has recorded the CD "The Melody Lingers On" with Baritone Ross Thompson and Rhapsody Quintet. They have performed their nostalgic show of Gershwin, Berlin, Kern and Herbert music all around the province. Leslie and Rhapsody Quintet recently performed "Christmas Arround the World" show at the DeCoste Centre in Pictou and in Mahone Bay.
