Audience Comments - Halifax for HaitiFebruary 2010 What our Listeners Say I was hoping someone would post some of the concert... the Quintet was incredible and deserved the first standing ovation of the night!! Fantastic show last evening!! Great job to the organizers and all the performers. The "true" spirit of being a Maritimer was alive and well last night. To the Nova Scotia (Rhapsody) Quintet, you rock!! (those there last evening will attest to that) I was at the concert watching from the skybox and everyone was blown away by your performance of “Bohemian Rhapsody” last night!! First standing ovation of the night went to you! Bravo! What an INCREDIBLE show of east coast talent and love for our brothers and sisters in Haiti. The supportive feeling was palatable. The showcase of talent was simply astounding - it was a smorgasbord of song and dance. I can't pick out any one single act, they were all really great entertainers! I'm not sure Stephen Cooke was at the exact same show however, as the loudest applause of the evening was not for anything Defence Minister Peter MacKay said. In fact MacKay got some noticeable boos from all over the Metro Center. The loudest applause by far was for the Rhapsody quintet, and then Plasket at the end. The father and son Guthros with Matt Minglewood was up there too. Actually there was a whole lot of enthusiastic applause throughout, but definitely not for MacKay or anything he said. Again, WHAT A GREAT SHOW!!! The performance brought tears to my eyes more than a bit which is brilliant of course... Thanks Friends!" I just got back from the concert and wanted to tell you how impressed I was with your Quintet's brilliant offering. You obviously tore the house apart, and it was thrilling but not surprising to witness the only standing ovation of the evening...yours. It says so much!! Congratulations on a lovely performance. Congratulations to you and the Rhapsody quintet - you were fabulous last night. Not sure if you are aware that you got the ONLY standing ovation of the night as well!!! Tell Ann that her "guitar solo" ROCKED - people around me were amazed!! The entire concert was fantastic, so thanks to all of you for putting it on. Congrats on an amazing job last night, Rhapsody was brilliant- the first (and one of so few) standing ovations!!! You were such a hit. I overheard the guy sitting next to me say "This is so awesome!" when he realized what song you were playing. I think you have a whole new fan base! A great night over all, I was really impressed how it all came together! A real community event at the Metro Centre tonight~! It was great to see people of all ages sharing a wonderful event. Rhapsody Quintet was the BEST! The ensemble performance of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen last night was stunning!! In addition to how awesome the group was (kudos to all!), the reaction of the crowd in the Metro Centre was amazing! Waves of applause rippled through the audience repeatedly during your performance and, as more and more folks twigged to what you were doing, I could almost feel the audience starting to vibrate! It was magical. On the way out, at the end of the night, the performance by your ensemble kept floating to the surface of the buzz of conversation I heard around me ... you really knocked people's sock off. BRAVO. My husband and I took our two girls (age 9 and 7) to Halifax for Haiti last night. One of the big highlights of the evening for me (and there were several) was your performance and the crowd's reaction. How wonderful to have the first standing ovation of the evening be for "classical" music! Congratulations to you and the other members of Rhapsody. Well chosen and well played! I was there! The hit of evening was Rhapsody Quintet who tore up the Metro Centre with an awesome performance of Bohemian Rhapsody. The only standing ovation of the evening! favourite moment of the nite I want to congratulate you and the group for your amazing performance in Monday night! I wasn't there but saw the youtube video and heard so many great comments from people that saw you live, I think you have a lot of new fans now! Great performance! Wow... Your performance yesterday at Halifax for Haiti was the highlight of the whole evening. What a beautiful rendition done with such brio. I was sitting with Claire and Justine in the crowd when Rhapsody came on stage. Before you began a couple of young people laughed and started snickering about classical music but once you started they soon clamed up and at the end were one of the first ones to stand up and applaud wildly. Great choice by the way. And an awsome arragement of the Queen classic. Once again you were by far the best act of the night. Everyone did a great job but Rhapsody Quintet was the high point for me. What a great performance and a great response And what a response! - Bravo, bravissimo, arcibravo Nice work last night! Did you know you got the only standing ovation of the night for a performance and certainly received the biggest cheer. Well done! thatwasfantastic well done last night at Halifax for Haiti...I was moved to tears by your performance - totally caught me off guard (the tears part). I think it was a combination of the music and the crowds reaction - thank-you that. My purpose now is to say how very much I enjoyed your participation in the Halifax for Haiti event on Monday evening. Obviously, the entire crowd of 7,000 thought so too when the Metro Centre went into full standing ovation mode. Your "classical treatment" (as the Chronicle Herald called it) of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody was indeed a very moving part of the evening for me and my sister. We knew we were being treated to something special. They were so amazing at Halifax for Haiti!!! I took my three-year-old music fan and he was in awe too! We were definitely part of the standing ovation! They brought the house down! Fabulous performance! Rhapsody was without a doubt the classiest act of the entire night |
