The Principal Clarinet with Symphony Nova Scotia, John Rapson has performed as soloist with numerous orchestras, in concertos by Mozart, Nielson, Weber and Spohr, and has recorded solo recitals, concertos, and chamber music for broadcast by both the CBC and the BBC. His CBC recording of "Viretai" by Patrick Cardy won him enthusiastic media acclaim. A graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Music, John has won several notable competitions, including the CBC Talent Festival, the Canadian Centenary Festival of Music, and was a bronze medal winner in the Geneva International Clarinet Competition. He is past director of the Maritime Conservatory of Music and the Halifax Chamber Musicians/The Gallery Series. |
